This summer, our Lecture Series brought together the OCD community for a variety of educational and engaging programs.
We began on June 3 with Dr. Christopher Pittenger, Director of the Yale OCD Research Clinic, who spoke at Yale University. His lecture reviewed standard treatments and medications while also highlighting promising new approaches, including ketamine and psychedelics.
On June 18, National OCD Advocate Ethan Smith joined us on Zoom for a thoughtful discussion on OCD in the media. His insights and personal perspective sparked a meaningful exchange with participants.
On August 19, we hosted a private screening of ANXIETY CLUB, a documentary using humor and storytelling to explore anxiety through the experiences of comedians.
On October 8, a colloquium will be held at Sacred Heart University titled “OCD: Getting Help and Support for Recovery”, featuring Christina Taylor, PhD, facilitator of the Fairfield County OCD Support Group, and members of the group.
Then, on October 18, our annual One Million Steps for OCD Walk will take place at Jennings Beach in Fairfield, CT.
Our Lecture Series continues this fall with talks by clinicians specializing in Self-Help: Metacognitive Strategies and Tactics, Inference-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), and eating disorders related to OCD.

OCD Oregon has had a meaningful and energizing season of advocacy and outreach. This summer, we proudly hosted our annual OCD Awareness Walk, which brought together individuals, families, and providers to build community, raise awareness, and reduce stigma around OCD and related disorders. The turnout and support were a strong reminder of the power of connection and shared purpose.
In addition to community engagement, we remain committed to supporting clinicians in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. In July, we facilitated a free continuing education training for mental health professionals, focused on best practices for treating OCD. The event was well attended and underscored the demand for accessible, specialized education in our region.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce an upcoming event in October: a local screening of Anxiety Club, a new documentary exploring lived experiences with anxiety and OCD. We’ll be partnering with local organizations to host a post-film discussion and provide resources for attendees. Stay tuned for details!
We’re grateful to all our supporters and community members who continue to help us grow our impact across Oregon. To get involved or learn more, visit www.ocdoregon.org.
